Ivan was born in Mexico City, on the 9th day of May of 1978, into a musical family who began preparing him for a musical career from a very young age; teaching him to be a violinist, composer and arranger, with emphasis on academic preparation.
He entered music school at the age of 10 and spent 3 years at I Center Cultural Hollín Yollistli and 4 years at the School of Music of the Nacional University of Mexico, where he studied choral music and direction and graduated with honors from the Subbureau of Superior Education of the State of _ . . . Studies in the music schools were always supplemented with private lessons and master classes with eminent teachers and outstanding Mexican Jazz musicians:
- Ignacio Gutierrez – Jazz theory, composition and electric Bass, Composer - Miguel Angel Gonzalez – Electric Bass - Salvador Olmos – Acoustic Bass - Angel Jain – Violin - Jazz Studies – taught by Walter Norris (pianist and arranger residing in Germany)
Since becoming a professional, Ivan has been in great demand as the bassist of choice for the following artists: La Quinta Estacion (World tour ), Emmanuel (World tour), Joao Enrique, Cristóbal Lopez, Elizabeth Meza, Hector Infanzon, Miguel Inzunza, Roberto Arballo Betuco ( Wet Saint ), and many more.
Ivan also finds time to be a clinician for Fender basses and SWR Amps, as well as performing with his own group, B4.
